I shall be posting a lengthier entry shortly, but just wanted to check in and say "hey."

I've also started a Dreamwidth account - I'll most likely be using it most of the time to post and most of the cross posts will go to LJ since it allows me to keep the same filters on, which is very cool.

If you are on Dreamwidth and want to find me, I'm ray_of_light there. Hoping to be a tad more anonymous there in some regards.

Will be posting about Friday's art opening and the weekend later today from home. It's going to feel as though it is 100 today and I just can't do this from work with an un-airconditioned office!!!

So my weekend in a bit more detail.

It rained and rained and rained and rained on Friday night. Not just little drips and drops but insane, heavy, giant puddles falling from the sky. This put a bit of a damper on the art opening which, needless to say, was a bit disappointing. I think for what the weather was we got a nice turn out, but otherwise, I felt a little sad about it. I have the option of doing a closing reception if I want, but I am feeling so over done with events that I'm not sure I really want to. If you want to see pics, They are up on Facebook here. Bob, Karen, Peg, Linda, Kristin from O & W and one of my former students attended, so that was really nice.

On Saturday, I headed down to Seelie Court with Diana and Deborah. The weekend was unbearably hot, at least for me. As I mentioned, most of the ritual work we did was of a very personal nature, so I won't go into it here, but there were a few funny moments.

Like when we were talking about I & J's dog, Rhiannon, and how she seemed more nervous lately. We said she didn't seem that way when she was younger, and Deborah commented, "Like when she was a kitten?" (Everything is a kitten to her). And Paul said, "I'm pretty sure she was never a kitten." Don't know why, but I found that REALLY funny. You probably had to be there.

Deborah hurt her arm on Saturday and wound up not staying with Diana and me at the hotel (she's fine, was just getting TLC from the many healers on hand) so Diana and I had pizza with a lovely gal from DC named Maria. It had been sooooo hot at Dragonstead - no air conditioning - and being in the hotel was HEAVENLY. A shower was also heavenly. Was enjoying the chat while also texting back and forth with stefsoap.

Slept like the dead but had kind of a headache on Sunday - I'll blame it on the heat. We did lots of re-cap and whatnot and also learned lots more.

I know I"m not doing this workshop much justice, but what I can say is we all felt as though we got to know one another on a much deeper level and the whole experience was incredibly meaningful, sacred, and wonderful.

And then Monday? Back to school. I have been giving thanks every day for Mary, our department secretary, who found me an air conditioned classroom to use for the summer. With the heat as it has been, I feel soooo indebted. Looks like I will be able to move my office to Biddle Hall at some point too, but they are having issues with phone lines over there and of course I need to have a phone in my office. That may not happen until September or October.

The students who were annoying me so much last week have not returned to class. I don't know if it was my overpowering personality.... or possibly a little oil that Ivo mixed up for me, but my classroom has been MUCH more manageable this week.

This weekend? True Blood costume party, Coven Leadership meeting (if we are all not too hung over from the party) and I think that will do it for me.
